What caught your eye at the show?
Auto shows bring together presenters, new designs and technology. Beyond the event footage, the price on a car's window is only part of what an owner pays.
🚘 DISCOVER THE REAL COST OF A CAR
Look beyond the sticker price
The final purchase price can include taxes, title and registration fees, and dealer charges. Owners should also budget for fuel or charging, maintenance, repairs, insurance and depreciation. The amounts depend on the vehicle and location.
💳 HOW AUTO FINANCING WORKS IN THE U.S.
Monthly payment vs. total cost
An auto loan's payment depends on the amount financed, annual percentage rate (APR) and loan term. Longer terms can reduce the monthly payment while increasing the total interest paid. Compare the APR, total payments, down payment and any fees—not only the monthly figure.
Illustration only: financing $20,000 for 60 months at 8% APR gives a payment of about $406 per month, excluding taxes and fees. This is not a loan offer.
🛡 WHAT AFFECTS CAR INSURANCE PRICES?
Insurance costs vary
Premiums can vary based on the state, vehicle model, driving history, coverage limits, deductibles and other factors permitted by local law. Liability insurance covers certain damages to others; collision and comprehensive coverage address different types of damage to the insured vehicle, subject to policy terms.
When comparing insurance, check the same coverage limits and deductibles across quotes. The lowest premium is not necessarily the best coverage.
